HEARTBEAT IN THE JUNGLE
Missionary nurse's adventures in Bolivia at Familia Feliz Orfanato
THE BLOG
I am serving at Familia Feliz Orphanage in Rurrenabaque, Bolivia. I have taken the position as the nurse, caring for the general health of the kids and any other illness that may develop. I will be here for a total of nine months and will be posting stories and lessons I learn. Welcome to my blog!
DECISION TO SERVE
Why did I choose to serve as a student missionary?
Ever since I began my plan for college, I have wanted to spend one year as a student missionary. There is not simply one reason I chose to serve, but multiple.
First of all, I believe that God gifts us with certain talents and abilities, whether they naturally come to us or are gained through education. I knew I wanted to serve in a healthcare capacity, so I decided to wait to complete my mission year after I had earned my nursing degree.
In addition, I wanted to learn valuable life lessons and gain a new and different view of the world. I can already see how much I take for granted at home with even the littlest things.
Finally, I have always wanted to travel. I plan to travel to a few different countries while I am in South America. I will journey through jungles, mountains, and even to coasts. Already in Bolivia, the mountains and sunsets are insanely beautiful.
